Rip currents bring no swimming signs to Jupiter Beach

Area lifeguards continue to  report strong rip currents in area beaches.

Venal Valliant, a 16-year-old student at West Centennial High School, drowned Saturday in Jensen Beach after being swept out to sea by a rip current.

The Palm Beach Daily News is reporting a girl was saved Monday from rip currents by her father as a high risk of rips continues.

According to the Daily News, the 14-year-old was swimming near North Ocean Boulevard and Angler Avenue when she couldn’t get back to shore.

Keith Golden, battalion chief, said the girl was shaken but not injured. She was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center as a precaution, the Daily News reported.

The National Weather Service in Miami has been warning of a high risk of rip currents the past few days with east winds gusting to 22 mph today.
