Nina’s Fresh Bakery plans to open by the end of May on the north side of Center Street, just west of Alt. A1A, which has been empty since dd’s Cupcake Shoppe closed several months ago.
The cupcake shop, with the pink and blue mural of cupcakes on the outside wall just west of Ralph’s Stand Up Bar, was open about 11 years.
Nina Tomasik, the owner of Nina’s Fresh Bakery in Abacoa, started making cakes out of her home in Palm Beach Gardens several years ago.
“I got so busy I had to open a store,” she said.

She opened her first Nina’s Fresh Bakery in Abacoa in November, 2015.
The Center Street store, currently undergoing renovations, will be her second location.
The bakery serves European, Italian and French pastries, breads, cakes with all natural ingredients.
The Abacoa bakery employs seven people.
“A customer mentioned that dd’s was empty. It is a great opportunity,” said Tomasik.
Tomasik will be working out of a much smaller store in the Center Street location, which is only about 400 square feet.
Her Abacoa bakery is about 1,500 square feet.
“We’ll be baking at the Abacoa store and delivering to the new location,” she said.
