The live-action version of the 1991 animated movie was released Friday in the U.S. It stars Emma Watson – you may recognize her as Hermione from the Harry Potter movies – as Belle and Dan Stevens as the Beast. Stevens played Matthew Crawley in the Downtown Abbey series.

The movie made $170 million at North American box offices and another $180 million abroad in its opening weekend. It broke the record for G- or PG-rated releases. It’s also Disney’s best opening for any of the live action movies that it has released so far: The Jungle Book, Cinderella and Alice in Wonderland.
