It’s time to sign up kids, teens for PGA Junior League in Gardens

When it comes to playing golf – or any other sport – everybody’s got to start somewhere.

Boys and girls ages 16 and younger of all abilities can sign up to play PGA Junior League Golf at Palm Beach Gardens’ Sandhill Crane Golf Club. Head Professional Sherri Pla will captain the league as golfers play in a recreational team setting.

“This is our first year hosting PGA Junior League Golf, and we’re excited for a great season,” Pla said in a news release. “PGA Junior League Golf is the ideal program for kids of a variety of skill levels, from those who’ve never picked up a club and are interested in the game to experienced junior golfers who would like to play on a team and mentor younger players.”

Teams play in a two-person scramble format for competition, according to a news release. Parents are invited play an active role as a volunteer, spectator or coach.

The season for kids ages 7 to 16 runs from April 1 to July 31. Practices begin the week of April 3 and run every Monday-Thursday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Matches are held every Sunday afternoon starting April 9 at the Sandhill Crane Golf Club.

The $350 cost includes a team jersey, bag tag, t-shirt, clubs to borrow, range balls, practices and matches.
