A Palm Beach Gardens college’s celebration of the Spanish language will include a discussion of a topic dominating headlines right now: the president’s approach to immigration.

The Trump agenda and immigration to the United States will be discussed at the 8th Annual Spanish Language Celebration March 21 at Palm Beach State College’s campus in Palm Beach Gardens, according to a news release. The Palm Beach Gardens campus registrar and three local immigration attorneys will serve on a panel discussion entitled “The Trump Agenda and Immigration to the United States” from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

The celebration is 9:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. in the BioSceince Technology Complex, Room SC 127. The events are free and open to the public.

Immediately after the panel discussion, English Professor Jenifer Skolnick and Spanish Professor Emmanuel Alvarado will present a talk about how the immigration experience has shaped the lives of Hispanic people in the United States, how biculturalism and bilingualism influence contemporary Latinos and how the Latino experience in the U.S. will shape multiculturalism in America over the long term, according to the news release.

Mike Ambrosino, a former Peace Corps volunteer in Costa Rica, will share about his experiences.

Former Palm Beach State College Professor Patricia Betancourt started the Spanish Language Celebration in 2010.
