No Powder Puff football game this year in Jupiter

Powder Puff football game this year at Jupiter Community High School.

A tradition that was almost cancelled last year, parents and players could not get enough players to sign up for the game, organizer Ben Klug told the Jupiter town council Tuesday night.

“We’re not going to give up. I hope we can play next year,” Klug said.

Information is available at Jupiter Powderpuff 2017.

The tackle football game — a 50-year annual contest at the school on Military Trail — looked like it might not happen last year when school officials sited safety factors as a reason not to hold the popular event at Velocity Community Credit Union Stadium.

But players and fans were determined to see the game continue.

An on-line petition to bring the game back collected about 3,000 names. Boosters convinced the Jupiter town council to support bringing back the game. About 500 fans attended.
