That construction on the southwest corner of Delaware Boulevard and Indiantown Road is going to be a new FPL building adjacent to the current service center.

The new two-story building will be four times as large as the current center. The new 25,000-square-ft building is designed to withstand a Category 5 hurricane.

Opening is planned for the fall of 2017.

A driveway for trucks and other service vehicles is planned on Delaware Boulevard.

There will be no gas stored at the new building. After a storm, company fuel trucks will provide gasoline to the trucks staged there.

Up to about 100 “storm riders” will be able to stay at the new building. They will be immediately dispatched to needed areas to make repairs following a storm, according to FPL.
