Watson the computer, the artificial intelligence wizard that beat the best players on Jeopardy! in 2011, will soon be boosting cancer care at the Jupiter Medical Center.
The IBM computer, which won a $1 million prize on the game show, has a fast pass to worldwide, up-to-date information. Its warp-speed technology gets information immediately to JMC physicians, said Dr. Abe Schwarzberg, the chief on oncology at the non-profit center on Military Trail.
“Watson springboards the efficiency for the doctor to gather information. It synthesizes the information. Then it personalizes the options on how we can treat a specific patient,” said Schwarzberg.
