Jupiter Police Chief Frank Kitzerow is under consideration to be interim town manager if current Town Manager Andrew Lukasik leaves the position.

Lukasik is one of three finalists to be the new village manager in North Palm Beach. Lukasik has been Jupiter town manager since 2004.

“I support our current town manager. If he leaves, I would be willing to serve in any position the town asks me to,” said Kitzerow.

North Palm Beach is seeking applicants to replace Village Manager Jim Kelly, who left in November.

The interim North Palm Beach village manager is the village’s Finance Director Semia Janjua.

The village council expects to conduct interviews and name a new manager in the next few weeks.

The Jupiter town council met Wednesday night to discuss the possible exit of Lukasik.

“We want somebody who is familiar with emergency management,” said Vice Mayor Ilan Kaufer, who said he would support Kitzerow’s appointment.

The police department in Jupiter has 116 sworn officers and a $20 million annual budget.

Other candidates mentioned were Jupiter Assistant Town Manager Lori Bonino and former Jupiter Assistant Town Manager Tod Mowery.

North Palm Beach is about five square miles and has about 13,000 residents.

Jupiter is about 22 square miles and has about 60,000 residents.

North Palm Beach’s annual budget is about $18 million; Jupiter’s is about $80 million.

Kelly’s salary was about $140,000. Lukasik earns about $180,000 in Jupiter.
