The threat of the Zika virus in South Florida isn’t dominating headlines as much as it was this summer, but Palm Beach Gardens is remaining vigilant.

The city scheduled another round of spraying for mosquitoes later this month, from Dec. 19 to 23, according to a news release. The spray, weather-permitting, will be applied to a different area of the city each day from 1o p.m. to 6 a.m.

The treatments use a pesticide called Duet to kill both day- and nighttime-flying mosquitoes. The active ingredients, prallethrin and sumithrin, are recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for Zika control, according to the city.

For questions about spraying, call 561-804-7034. For additional information about the city’s steps to fight Zika, call the Gardens Zika information line from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday or go to http://www.pbgfl.com/mosquito.
