The owner of a popular Thai restaurant in West Palm Beach’s Northwood neighborhood is opening a spin-off in Palm Beach Gardens.
Malakor Thai creator Billy Manthy plans to open Kao Gang, a Thai, sushi and noodle bar, at 2626 PGA Blvd. in August. It’s in the same shopping center as Trader Joe’s next to the European Wax Center and Raw Juce behind Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza.
Kao Gang will serve authentic Thai dishes created by master chefs Tutu Sarjai and Noopy Areerak, according to a video promoting the restaurant‘s opening, which shows decorative fish adorning dark blue walls and a lily pad design on the floor.
A menu isn’t yet available on Kao Gang’s website. Thai dishes on the menu at sister restaurant Malakor Thai include pad Thai, lad nar noodles and pad kee mao (drunken noodles). Chef’s specials include Thai crispy duck, duck pad cha and red curry duck. If you’re not a fan of duck, there’s always the volcano shrimp.
Manthy, an artist, will also show off his works. He’s known for his murals and hand-crafted ceiling fan blades carved from leaves of tropical trees.
