Initial approval was given Tuesday night by the Jupiter town council to demolish the Circle K gas station on the south side of Indiantown Road just west of Alternate A1A and build a bigger one with more gasoline pumps.
The plan calls for increasing the number of pumps from 12 to 16.
The 1,000-square-foot building would be replaced by a new one that would be 4,400 square feet.
Second and final reading is scheduled for Aug. 16.
The council vote was 2-1, with Councilman Jim Kuretski dissenting.
“(Circle K) is the biggest eyesore on Indiantown Road,” said Kuretski.
