Two sub-adult loggerhead sea turtles, Banner and Roerig, are planned for release Wednesday, July 6, at about 10:30 a.m. off Juno Beach.
The turtles have been rehabilitated by officials at the Loggerhead Marinelife Center.
The release is free and open to the public. LMC accepts donations.
LMC officials recommend getting to the beach just north of Donald Ross Road early.
Found at Sandsprit Park in Stuart last December, Roerig was chronically debilitated, anemic and underweight with a large amount of leeches and barnacles on its shell. LMC hospital staff removed the leeches and other parasites by keeping Roerig in fresh water for the first two days.
Banner was brought into LMC last Sunday after accidentally being hooked at the Juno Beach Pier.
The turtle had a single hook in its throat. LMC hospital staff removed the hook and Banner was cleared for release.
