Folks walking around the Square Grouper and Guanabanas this weekend might be wondering what that is flying around up in the sky this Friday and Saturday night.
They can relax.
It’s a drone.
The town is paying a firm $100 a hour to send the gadget up there to collect information to evaluate infrastructure demands, such as parking, in the Inlet Village.
Over the next four Friday and Saturday nights, the drone will be flying along A1A from Jupiter Beach Road and U.S.1 from 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
If you’re in the As staff prepares to draft Land Development Regulations for Inlet Village and evaluates parking standards per Town Council direction, we will be flying a drone over the area on Friday and Saturday evenings, between 5:30pm and 8:30pm, over the next four weeks to give staff and the Council a better picture (pun intended) of the infrastructure demands in the Inlet Village.
o We are obviously out of season, but we’ll have the holiday weekend (greater demand) data to view. For what it’s worth, one restaurant manager said volumes this past weekend were similar to those that are “in season”. Not sure what that means, but I thought it was interesting.
o We’ll repeat the effort once we are “in season” as well.
Just letting you know so that you’re aware that the data will be available and that a drone will be flying overhead (in case you receive any calls/emails about it).
