*Learn about a reef and then snorkel: The program at MacArthur Beach State Park begins 10 a.m. Saturday with a presentation about the fish and other wildlife of the shore reef. Afterward, you’ll get some instruction on where to snorkel in the park. Snorkelers should bring their own gear and make sure to have a diver down flag. One can be rented at the Beach Outfitters & Gift Shop.
For more information and reservations, call the Nature Center: 561-624-6952. The program is free with the cost of park admission.
*Lead your baby to victory in a diaper derby: Garden of Life is having its first 5K race 7:30 a.m. Saturday at PGA National Resort & Spa, followed by a 9 a.m. Sun Run Diaper Derby on the Masters Terrace. Diaper derby participants between one and two years old will crawl 12 feet to cross the finish line, according to a news release. Parents can wave toys, snacks, cellphone or keys to spur their little ones on in “the slowest two minutes in sports.”
Standard adult registration for the 5K is $35. Registration for the diaper derby is $10. Proceeds for both events benefit Special Olympics Florida – Palm Beach County.
*Spread out your blanket, avoid the ants and have a picnic: Palm Beach Gardens and North Palm Beach are home to some of the biggest, best parks in the county. Pack up the cooler, find a shady spot and enjoy. When you’re finished eating, play some disc golf at PGA National Park and burn off some calories.
