*Have some ice cream and listen to live music: Treat yourself to your favorite flavor and toppings from Sloan’s Ice Cream at 7 to 10 p.m. Friday at Downtown at the Gardens, then head over to Centre Court to eat it while you’re serenaded by a free concert by Whisky Six 7. The modern country band will give the last Friday night performance before Downtown’s popular Rock ‘n’ Roll Summer series starts.
*Special story time at Barnes and Noble: The bookstore at Legacy Place, 11380 Legacy Ave. in Palm Beach Gardens, is having a special children’s event, “Our Great Big Backyard” story time 11 a.m. May 28, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service. Former First Lady Laura Bush and daughter Jenna Bush Hager created the book as a tribute to the parks and connecting with nature. Coloring and activities will follow the reading.
*Birding at MacArthur Beach State Park: A ranger will lead an educational walk 9 to 10 a.m. Sunday identifying the birds that call the park home. The park, 10900 Jack Nicklaus Drive, suggests bringing binoculars or renting them in the gift shop. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 561-624-6952. The walk is free with the cost of park admission.
