No, you don’t have déjà vu. No, it’s not the Joe Russo who just left office who wants a seat on City Council next year.
It’s his son who has already announced his plans to seek the Group 5 seat in the 2017 election. He introduced himself as a candidate during a PGA Corridor Association breakfast earlier this month, on an election Facebook page and through an email blast Wednesday.
The 26-year-old Midtown resident graduated from Cardinal Newman High School and Florida Gulf Coast University, according to his bio. He works as the executive director of Palm Beach Tech, a nonprofit aimed at uniting and growing technology and related industries in Palm Beach County.
The elder Joe Russo held office for almost 30 years. Maria Marino took his place on City Council this month.
Mayor Marcie Tinsley holds the Group 5 seat on City Council. She will not be able to seek re-election because of term limits.
