People should avoid machines that will spray a mosquito insecticide around Palm Beach Gardens next month.

A licensed technician drives around the city and releases a controlled ground application of the insecticide, Anvil 2+2 ULV, from dusk through 10 p.m.

The spraying, weather-permitting, will begin in May and continue through October, according to the city. The insecticide is used in outdoor residential and recreational areas to control adult mosquitoes.

Children shouldn’t be allowed to follow the mosquito truck. Pets are usually put off by the high pitch of the machine, according to a city list of Frequently Asked Questions.

A safety data sheet for the insecticide indicates its harmful if inhaled. Contact with skin should also be avoided.
