A new mayor took hold of the gavel Thursday night in Palm Beach Gardens as two other officials took the oath of office.
Councilwoman Marcie Tinsley, who is in her second term, succeeded Eric Jablin as mayor. Jablin took over the role of vice mayor from David Levy, who narrowly won his bid for re-election against retired city police officer Carl Woods. Woods is challenging the results of that election.
Tinsley thanked Jablin for his hard work and her colleagues for their support.
“This city is our like our child,” she said. “We’ve all nourished it. We’ve guided it, we’ve watched it grow.”
Maria Marino, who served on the city’s Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, was sworn in to the Group 2 seat on City Council. She was uncontested after her opponent, Takeata King Pang, dropped out of the race in January.
