MARS (Mega Awesome Robotic System) from North County is participating in the The FIRST Robotics Competition South Florida Regional planned March 31-April 2, at 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM at the Palm Beach County Convention Center in West Palm Beach.

The event is free and open to the public.

MARS consists of students from Palm Beach Gardens, Jupiter and William T. Dwyer High Schools, Watson B. Duncan Middle School, as well as private and home-schooled students.

This is the first year the South Florida Regional will be held at the Palm Beach County Convention Center.

The competition is scheduled to have 59 teams. Teams from 10 states and international teams from Costa Rica, Colombia, Dominican Republic and Turkey will be attending the event.

On average each team consists of 30 students (plus parent chaperones, teachers and mentors), so organizers expect to have at least 2,500 people attending each day during the three-day competition.

In 2016, there are 3,128 FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) teams comprised of 78,000+ students from 24 countries around the world.
