The next time firefighters respond to your condo or favorite restaurant on PGA Boulevard, they’ll be coming from a brand new station.

Palm Beach Gardens is holding a grand opening 9 a.m. this Thursday, Feb. 11, for the new Station 2, 11025 Campus Dr. The station is across from Palm Beach State College campus and next to the Eissey Theatre.

Firefighters there respond to more than 2,300 calls each year, serving residents and businesses along and around PGA Boulevard, according to the city.

The new station is built to energy-efficient environmental specifications and is Category 5 hurricane rated. It cost $2.6 million, according to the city.

It replaces the station next door, which was built in 1987. There was no loss of service while the new station was under construction.
